The MetaTyping™ Nutrition BlogImprove Your Health, Control Your Weight, and Extend Your Life with REAL Metabolic Typing!Losing Weight - and Keeping It OFF! - with Metabolic TypingFrom: The MetaTyping Nutrition Blog
Greetings, A couple of weeks ago, I received the following email from Jonathan:
That's a great question - because it gets right to the heart of what metabolic typing is all about! Metabolic typing is NOT a quick-loss weight program, like others you may be familiar with. And that's what makes it so successful! You probably know that quick-loss weight programs generally have a poor long-term success rate. In other words, the faster you take the weight off, the more likely you are to gain it back. Unfortunately, many of these quick-loss programs rely on loss of water and/or loss of muscle to produce their fast results. And while that may work short term, both are terrible "long-term" strategies. Lost water weight is of course easily gained back. But even worse, loss of muscle practically guarantees your weight loss will be short-lived. Muscle tissue is responsible for burning stored fat for energy. So by losing muscle, you are losing the very means whereby you can keep the weight off! Instead, with metabolic typing, you will be losing weight more slowly. But you will keep it off, and you will be losing the right weight (fat gain) rather than muscle or water weight. The real reason you gain weight is from metabolic imbalance and inefficiency. In that sense, weight gain is much like any other health complaint. Weight gain is a "symptom" rather than a "problem". So we want to fix the problem (metabolic imbalance) rather than just treat the symptom (weight gain). When you begin eating according to your metabolic type, your body chemistry normalizes, your health starts to build, and your metabolism starts to become more efficient. At that point, you'll find your weight heading in the right direction! But this is not done by "forcing" temporary loss. Instead, you'll be more likely to keep the weight off, if you follow through on your metabolic profile. You might also start noticing something else. As you start eating according to your metabolic type, you might also start adding lean muscle as you are losing fat. Of course, muscle weighs more than fat, so it's not unusual to see the scale go up a bit as you lose fat. However, as one of my clients put it: "It has only been a fews days but I feel so much better, my energy levels have been great and my jeans already feel looser!" So as you begin losing fat, you might see some fluctuations in your weight. That should not be of concern. As a matter of fact, it's NOT a good idea to weigh yourself daily when you first start. Weigh yourself just once a week or once every two weeks, so you'll notice the longer term effects of building lean muscle and losing fat. So to answer Jonathan's questions, I'm extremely proud to say that the "average weekly weight loss" is a LOW NUMBER. I can't give you an exact number, but in my experience it is generally no more than a few pounds a week. But at that rate, especially if you are eating right for your metabolic/endocrine type (click here), you will keep the weight off! Metabolic typing is NOT for those who want quick-but-temporary solutions. It's for those of us who are serious about our long-term health and weight control. Wishing you the best in health and longevity,
