The MetaTyping™ Nutrition BlogImprove Your Health, Control Your Weight, and Extend Your Life with REAL Metabolic Typing!Your "Real" Metabolic pH - Find Your Acid/Alkaline Balance for Health and Weight Control With This Simple ChartFrom: The MetaTyping Nutrition Blog
Greetings, In my last blog posting, we talked about the 24 Real Metabolic Types (click here). These types are based on the "settings" of your unique metabolism. There are three primary systems involved in metabolism:
Each of these three primary metabolic systems in your body has a certain "setting." When combined together, the settings you have in each of these three systems determines how you process the food you eat. As such, your settings directly influence the type of food you should eat to be healthy. For example, certain settings cause the exact same food to make one person skinny, another person fat, and for yet another person, to have no effect at all.
It's Not the Food, It's the Settings! As part of their role in weight control, these settings also determine an important "tendency" in your body. This tendency has a direct influence on your internal health, because it involves an important measure of your body's metabolic efficiency. And that is your "pH tendency". Chemically, pH is a measure of the concentration of hydrogen ions in a solution. Normally, pH is expressed as a number from 0 to 14. A pH of 7.0 - right in the middle of the scale - is considered a "neutral" pH. Below 7.0 is considered "acid", while above 7.0 is considered "alkaline"
The fluids in our body - saliva, urine, etc. - all have a certain pH level of hydrogen ions. These hydrogen ions are by-products of metabolism and other chemical reactions in the body. For the most part, these reactions create acid in the body, and this acid must be processed and eliminated for us to maintain our health. There is no doubt that a more "alkaline" level in our body fluids indicate that we are properly "handling" the acid by-products. An alkaline level is a good indication of health. But the first thing you should do is COMPLETELY IGNORE any of those "acid/alkaline" food charts you find in books, magazines and all over the web. Those charts tell you to eat "alkaline" foods to improve your health. While that's true for some people, it's not true for everyone. Instead, our metabolic settings - specifically for the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) and Oxidative System (OS) - determine whether a given food will acidify or alkalinize us. For example, many of those charts list "red meat" as producing an acid pH. Well, that's true, but according to metabolic typing, it's true only for people who have certain metabolic settings. For another group of people, who have different metabolic settings, red meat actually creates an alkalinizing effect. So for this type, this supposedly "acid" food actually helps create the proper pH balance, due to the action of their metabolic systems. That's right - once again, it's the "settings", not the food.
Discovering Your pH TendencyWhat we do KNOW from our settings is that each of us have a "pH tendency". That is, our metabolic settings indicate that we tend to have an acid pH, an alkaline pH, or a balanced pH metabolically. People with an acid pH tendency, of course, will benefit from eating foods that produce more alkaline in their systems. People with an alkaline pH tendency will benefit from eating foods that produce acid, to balance their systems. How do you know if you have an acid or an alkaline tendency? It's very simple to find your pH tendency. If you have received your metabolic test results already, please open your results right now. Your results are on our private website, and you'll find the link to them in the email I sent you entitled "Nutrition Profile and Implementation Plan". (If you haven't received your nutrition profile yet, please click here.) At the top of your profile results, you'll see a section that looks like this:
To determine pH tendency, look at the settings for your Autonomic and Oxidative systems. Then find your settings in the following chart:
For example, if you use the "Nutritional Assessment - Example" from above, you'll find that this client had a PARASYMPATHETIC Autonomic setting, and a FAST Oxidative settings. Look up PARASYMPATHETIC - FAST in the above chart, and you'll see this person has a tendency towards a balanced pH. Now look at your own metabolic profile, and find your settings in the above chart. If you have a pH tendency of "acid" or "alkaline", it is important that you eat right for your metabolic type. Eating right for your type will be essential to developing and maintaining pH balance for health and weight control. However, if you have a tendency to have a balanced pH, or to have just a slightly acid or slightly alkaline system - don't think that makes it easy for you. It doesn't. As a matter of fact, people with balanced or slight pH tendencies have a harder time! That's because any food they eat will easily "tip the scale" towards being too acid or too alkaline. So it's even more crucial for you to eat right for your metabolic type if you have a balanced tendency. You need to prevent tipping the scale in one direction or the other to reach your optimum level of health and weight control. Fortunately, whether you have an acid, alkaline, or balanced tendency, the food chart I sent you with your profile will get you started in the right direction. These charts list the foods that are right for your metabolic type, and will help balance out your pH tendency. Use the food chart in combination with the Diet Check Record sheet and Diet Symptoms Journal you also received. (If you haven't received your food chart yet, please click here.) Knowing your real metabolic type, and eating according to your food chart, can start you on the road to the proper pH. And as a result, you'll quickly start improving your health, controlling weight, and looking and feeling great! Wishing you the best in health and longevity,
