Greetings, By now, many of you have received your metabolic typing profiles from the Young After 50 Plan. These profiles give you the facts about your dietary health, with no more guesswork about what foods are best for you. With the profile, you also receive food charts that list the ideal foods for your genetic metabolic type, plus the tools you need to customize these food charts to your precise health and diet needs. While this information helps you choose the right "food", I'm often asked about choosing the right "dietary supplements", such as vitamins, minerals, and herbs. I'm often asked, "What supplements should I take? Do I even need supplements with this plan? After all, if I'm eating according to my metabolic type, are supplements even necessary?" When you receive your metabolic profile, you'll notice a list of recommended supplements. You'll also find a short article in your profile entitled "Do You Need Supplements?" As we mention in that article: If the food which is available in today's market indeed provided all the necessary nutrients, it might be possible to use only food to obtain and maintain good health... [But] Our food today simply does not contain sufficient nutrient content to meet the demands of our modern lifestyles and to keep us in a state of good health. Supplements therefore can greatly boost the health benefits you'll receive from eating right for your metabolic type. BUT ...
It is absolutely critical that the supplements you are taking do not conflict with your metabolic type. If you are eating according to your metabolic type, but are taking supplements that conflict with your type, at best you will be wasting time and money. At worst, you'll be doing yourself more harm than good! The wrong supplements will cancel out much of the good work you are doing by eating according to metabolic typing. You may find a loss of energy, due to the body working to eliminate the incorrect supplements from your system. You may find yourself developing health problems such as weight control, illness or disease. Or if you already have these problems, you may find them becoming worse! So how do you know which supplements to take? Your nutrition profile tells you EXACTLY which supplements to take and in which amounts. These supplements are based precisely on your answers to the customized nutrition profile you filled out when you started the plan. So just as there is no more guesswork with your foods, there is no more guesswork with your supplements either! But will these supplements really help you? The easiest way to know is to try them for yourself. Simply take your recommended supplements for 2 months. Then stop. Then compare the way you felt while taking the supplements to the way you feel when you don't take them. According to Bill Wolcott, one of the founders of today's metabolic typing, not one person in 30 years has ever told him that they did not feel noticeably better on their metabolic typing supplements. And that has held true for my clients as well. So make sure you look at your nutrition profile and the supplements it recommends. These specific supplements, customized for your genetic metabolic type, will aid in correcting metabolic imbalances, help with weight control, and may help relieve any health symptoms you want to correct.
