The MetaTyping™ Nutrition BlogImprove Your Health, Control Your Weight, and Extend Your Life with REAL Metabolic Typing!"I Have A Disease. Which Food Will Cure It?"From: The MetaTyping Nutrition Blog
Greetings, Are you interested in maintaining a healthy mind and body? Of course, you are - after all, why would you be reading this blog if you weren't! Unfortunately, no matter how healthy we want to be, sometimes we face disease and illness. And this can be especially diffcult when we are diagnosed with diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, MS, high blood pressure, and obesity. Here in the United States, when we are faced with serious health problems, we have a number of different treatments for handling disease. But most of the treatments follow either (1) an allopathic approach, or (2) an alternative medical approach.
The Allopathic Approach to DiseaseMost people are familiar with the allopathic approach - this is the conventional approach of modern medicine. In the allopathic approach, diseases are identified by their symptoms, and treatment is identified by the disease. Treatments can include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and drugs. For the most part, in the allopathic model, the same treatment protocol is given to everyone having a given disease. Although there are exceptions, in general there are few individual variations. Two people with the same "disease" may be given the same drug, the same surgery, or the same chemotherapy.
The Alternative Approach to DiseaseAs opposed to allopathic medicine, "alternative approaches" may use supplements, diet, herbs, Ayurvedic medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, homeopathic medicine, osteopathic and chiropractic methods, acupuncture, and other mind and body healing methods. But be forewarned - not all "alternative approaches" are truly alternative! Some of these approaches still use an allopathic model - that is, they identify diseases by symptoms, and treatments by disease. The only thing alternative about them is that they generally don't use prescription medication. But they can be just as "allopathic" in their approach as conventional medicine. For an "alternative approach" to be truly alternative, it must go beyond "symptom -> disease -> treatment". Instead, it must take into consideration more than disease - it must look at the entire person. While it may consider your symptoms, the symptoms will only be a part of the overall approach to helping you heal and cure. Having said that, you'll quickly learn that in the alternative approach, two people with the same symptoms might receive very different treatments. That's because it's not just the symptoms that determine the treatment; it's the person's entire "health picture" - their diet, eating habits, work habits, lifestyle, and emotions. (Sometimes this is called a "holistic" approach, but even some so-called "holistic" practices still use allopathic approaches.) So where the allopathic and some alternative approaches follow: symptom -> disease -> treatment A truly alternative approach is more like: symptom -> person -> imbalance -> treatment For example, conventional medicine sees "cancer" as a disease. There are well-defined and established treatment protocols for ridding the body of cancer. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), as an example of a truly alternative approach, doesn't see "cancer" as a disease. As a matter of fact, some TCM doctors say that it is normal to occassionally have cancer cells in our body. But the body should handle these as part of its regular function. If the body DOESN'T handle these cancer cells, if they build up and create tumors, what needs to be treated is whatever is preventing the body from handling these cells and ridding itself of them. The "real" problem is the imbalance that's causing this normal function from taking place. This follows the "symptom -> person -> imbalance -> treatment" model.
So What's The Right Food to Cure Your Diease?I often hear from clients, "I have XYZ disease. What food or diet should I be eating to help with that?" And my answer is ... nothing! I also often hear, "I'm taking ABC supplement to make sure I don't get XYZ disease. Is that OK?" And my answer is ... No! Instead of certain foods or supplements for certain diseases, we need to make sure you are giving your body the food and supplements it really needs, based on your metabolic type and genetic profile. If you give your body these genetically-compatible foods and supplements, it may just have the building blocks it needs to cure the disease ... without you eating anything special for the disease. And even if both you and your friend have the same disease, you might need different food and supplements to heal! In your Young After 50 Longevity Plan, your nutrition profile addresses your unique individual requirements for diet and nutrition, so that you have these building blocks. Also, we cover exercise, emotional and mental health, and environmental factors that are part of the total picture of your health. As with many holistic methods, this approach helps not only in healing, but also in preventing disease. But we do so by NOT focusing just on symptoms. Instead, we concentrate on removing blockages and balancing the whole body and mind to create health, removing health blockages, purge toxins, etc.
Of course, if you've been drawing on your "health bank account" (as we mention in the online mini-course) for quite some time, you may actually have an "acute" condition - one that needs immediate attention. Allopathic medicine excels at solving acute conditions. But for "chronic" conditions - or to help you recover after the "acute" aspect has been solved - a truly alternative approach like the one found in the Young After 50 plan is your best bet for improving your health and getting back to your natural state of well-being. Wishing you the best in health and longevity,
